New Christian Music Genre Created

"There are many categories within Christian music – from Pop/Rock to Adult Contemporary, Urban Gospel to Praise and Worship. But now, according to online resource About.com, there is a new genre called “Christian Beach Music” in which only one person currently resides. That artist is Christian music’s favorite beach bum, Bill Mallia.

According to Kim Jones, About.com’s Christian Music Guide, “Bill Mallia isn't easy to classify - unless, of course, there is a genre' called ‘fun’! On his official site, you can check out his latest news, hear his music (bring your beach ball), learn more about what makes him tick and see where he'll be performing next.” About.com maintains a comprehensive list of leading individuals and bands on their “A to Z Christian Artists” page."

Christian Beach Music Inspires
The Logan Show!

There’s no question that the buzz is hot about Christian music’s favorite beach bum, Bill Mallia.  But now, it even looks like The Logan Show (http://www.loganshow.com) has joined the party.  The nationally syndicated TV program recently dedicated a skit to the idea that the show’s host, Logan Sekulow, and cohort Will Haynes, adventure off to start a Christian beach band, only to realize they weren’t the first to think of the concept (revealed 12 minutes and 20 seconds into the video).

USA Today called The Logan Show, "a mix between ‘curb your enthusiasm’ and the ‘Larry Sanders Show’". Although targeted at youth and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24, the show's growing fan base includes audiences of all ages. The host of the show is the funny 23-year-old Logan Sekulow, who is joined by a cast of eight comedians who take part in the weekly sketches. (Read The Complete Press Release)

Drink A Palm Frond

Dissolve 1 packet of pure-cane sugar in 2 or 3 ounces of water in a 12 ounce cup

What's island music without the festive sound of a classic Ukulele?  Why, you can almost feel the warm breeze blowing through your hair, can't you?  That's why you can add a new instrument to the line-up on stage with Bill in 2009.

Bill Mallia Hits North America With Bible League

Bill Mallia has inked a multi-show agreement with Bible League to take his brand of “Christian beach music” to North American audiences.  Hailed by many as the “Jimmy Buffett of Christian music,” Mallia will team up with one of the world’s largest evangelical, interdenominational Scripture placement agencies in an effort to spotlight the organization’s important global work.

Bible League is encouraging churches and other organizations to book a “Concert for Bibles with Bill Mallia,” which will include both great music and an opportunity for people to provide Bibles around the world.   The partnership is a natural fit, as both strive to feed the spiritually hungry.  Bible League works with churches worldwide, training local Christians to share the Word through Bible studies, lead people to Christ and help them grow in faith.  They also train people to establish new churches where none exist.   

According to Sue Olson, coordinator of Artist Partner Relations for the Chicago-based Bible League, “Churches and groups that consider booking a Concert for Bibles with Bill Mallia should know that this is an act that works equally well as a stand-alone concert or as a complement to many church festivities.  Whatever the occasion, your venue should be set up to encourage a Christian celebration and not as a somber worship service. Bill Mallia is an artist with a heart for God’s Word and we are excited about this partnership with him to help provide Bibles worldwide.” 

Concert planners are encouraged to give their event the feel of a barbeque/pig roast, funky cafe or a festive tropical-themed party and in doing so, they’ll be right on the mark for the perfect atmosphere.  If you usually hold concerts in your Sanctuary or church hall, consider moving this event to one of your social/fellowship rooms or even outdoors. The goal of all Bill Mallia shows is to send audiences home realizing that a relationship with God is not the burden of life, but rather its all-out happy completion.
